Hi, I'm Joel.
I am a leading content creator, photographer, videographer and certified drone pilot based in Melbourne, Australia.
With over two decades experience in the media industry, and especially well regarded within the automotive sector,
I’ve supplied content creation services to leading Australian and International brands such as Shannons, Cars Guide, Speedcafe, Bridgestone and O’Brien Australia.
I started out as a photographer and was the official photographer for the Australian Rally Championship for five years before providing writing for publications such as Tarmac Magazine and Motorsport News.
Through Joel Strickland Media, I also provide film and video production, live streaming and social media content creation. I’m a current CASA Certified REPL & REOC drone pilot that provides premium aerial photography and videography for a varity of clients.

On a shoot, I can't do without...
Every shoot is different, but one thing stays the same: I always come prepared. Beyond the camera and lenses, there are a few essentials I never leave behind — little things that make a big difference in how I work and how present I can be in the moment.
In winter, it’s all about staying warm so I can stay focused. Gloves that let me adjust settings without freezing my fingers, and a beanie pulled down tight — those are must-haves. Cold weather shouldn’t get in the way of catching real emotion or beautiful light.
In summer, the list shifts. Water is always close by, along with sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to keep the sun off my face during long outdoor sessions.
I also carry back-up gear — a spare camera body, memory cards and batteries — because I never want to miss a moment due to technical issues.
My Dream Car is...
A first-generation Dodge Viper — raw, unapologetic, and built purely for the thrill of driving.
The fact that the production version’s design didn’t stray away from the original concept is very impressive, and the fact that it has a V10 engine mated to a 6 speed manual transmission with no other drivers aides makes it incredibly unique.
My Dodge Viper would have to be red, no exceptions.
